We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Insurance Benefits Specialist to join a fantastic healthcare team in Tulsa, OK. Top candidates will have extensive experience verifying patient insurance coverage, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and facilitating smooth insurance processes. Experience in Ophthalmology is a HUGE plus, but not required. Previous work history and longevity is a strong contributor for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility by reviewing health insurance benefit policies, managed care plans, and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies during all data handling processes.
- Utilize medical terminology, coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, to accurately document insurance information.
- Conduct insurance pre-certifications, pre-authorizations, authorizations and verification procedures for medical office settings to confirm coverage details before appointments or procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to resolve coverage issues, claim denials, or discrepancies efficiently.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) and medical records with precision, maintaining organized documentation of all eligibility activities.
- Stay informed about current health insurance policies, updates in medical coding practices, and changes in managed care protocols to ensure accurate processing.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a medical office is required, experience in ophthamology highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care plans, and medical billing procedures.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to protect patient information at all times.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management tools.
- Demonstrated ability to verify insurance coverage accurately and resolve related issues promptly.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and insurance documentation.
