Do’s and Don’ts going into an interview.
- What not to wear – You want to stand out and be remembered in a good way. Most employment candidates dress very casual to an interview. Even so much as to wear PJ’s to an interview. You want to make sure you are dressed for success. Remember to dress for the job you want not the job you have. If you someday want to be the president or CEO of a fortune 500 company, go to this interview dressed for that job. Be comfortable in your interview close before the interview day.
- Research the company in which you are interviewing. Go into an interview armed with information about the company, the person interviewing you, any achievements, etc…
- Be just about 10 minutes early to your interview, no more, no less. If you have a scheduled time, the interviewing manager scheduled that time for a reason, They have a very busy schedule and this is the time they set aside for you. Respect that time. If you show up to early, you interfere with their scheduled, if you show up late you’ve lost the job.
- Do not reschedule the interview. If you remember that you have promised that time to someone else, change your personal schedule. If you reschedule and interview, you are showing the hiring manager you will have attendance issues. A scheduled interview is priority.
