Swift Staffing HR Files – Requirements to Work in the Medical Field

We have started a segment allowing potential candidates to ask questions that will be answered directly by our CEO, Darcy Swift. This month’s question is:

QUESTION: Do you need to have License, Certification or experience to work in the healthcare industry?

ANSWER: The short answer is, it depends on the type of healthcare position you are wanting to be hired to do.  If you are wanting to be a patient care provider (ei: Midlevel, RN, LPN or Medical Assistant), you would need either a license or certification.

However, if you are wanting to work in the insurance claims and billing area you would need experience, but not necessary a certification or license.

If you want to have a customer service, admissions or medical records type medical position you would either need education such as terminology or experience.

Unfortunately, the healthcare industry has changed in so many ways and has so many regulations it does require education or experience for most positions.

If you have a question you want answered, please contact us here. We will feature one frequently asked question a month.
