QUESTION: This past month my job was in jeopardy, the company I work for said they no longer needed my position and was going to fire me. My manager went to bat for me hard and ended up winning so I was able to keep my job. I was recently offered an amazing job opportunity but I feel like I shouldn’t quit because of how hard my manager fought for me to stay. What should I do? Is it wrong of me to quit?
ANSWER: It’s definitely not wrong for you to quit if you feel like the opportunity is not worth giving up, but you need to weigh all the options before you make your final decision. If the new job doesn’t work out, you are likely not going to be able to return to your current job. If you do choose to move on, be sure to let your manager know how much you appreciate how hard she fought for you. She put herself on the line for you and that is definitely something to be acknowledged.
